Introduction

Most people browse the web in their own language. Think about pupils in elementary schools across the world who aren't studying English - yet. To make it possible for them to discover Stellarium, we'd be very grateful if you could provide a translation of the stellarium.org homepage. It's a small task, but extremely important.

How to translate homepage

Stellarium's homepage now uses gettext for translation and you can translate it via specialized applications like poedit or Rosetta web interface.

Translation process it very simple and you need run next 3 simple steps:

How to apply translations to homepage

Presumably homepage stored in bazaar's trunk and next 5 simple steps will apply translations from Rosetta to homepage:

  • Go to folder with trunk source code and update it from bazaar (bzr pull)
  • Merge trunk from auto-po branch (bzr merge lp:~stellarium/stellarium-website/auto-po)
  • Open folder with trunk source code and run script util/compileMo.sh
  • Update trunk on launchpad.net (bzr push lp:stellarium-website)
  • Update source code on stellarium.org from trunk

How to add new lines for translation

Presumably homepage stored in bazaar's trunk and next 5 simple steps will apply translations from Rosetta to homepage:

  • Go to folder with trunk source code and update it from bazaar (bzr pull)
  • Update source code in trunk folder
  • Generate a new stellarium-website.pot file via run script util/generatePot.sh
  • Commit changes to trunk (bzr commit -m "added new lines for translation")
  • Update trunk on launchpad.net (bzr push lp:stellarium-website)
