Nicola, this is a *great* set of directions! the onliest differences between your strategy and mine is that i trial-and-errored my way to the following configure command:

 LDFLAGS="-L/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/X11R6/lib -L/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/lib" CPPFLAGS="-I/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/X11R6/include -I/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/X11R6/include/freetype2 -I/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/include" ./configure --prefix=/sw

which gives configure enough to at least run through. I don't know that there is a significant difference, either!

For the more detailed instructions you have to thanks Michael (mheinz), see the article history. I don't have a clear opinion on what LDFLAGS is better to use, so I'm not useful here.

The LDFlags I chose were to force configure to use the provided libraries (freetype, png and SDL) - I checked the Mac SDKs, I don't see SDL installed there - perhaps you installed it yourself? --Mheinz 04:16, 2 October 2006 (PDT)

Michael and Nicola,

i went the fink route: SDL was installed there, which, in addition to provided a fine SDL to configure against for ./configure's purposes, it also provided the all-important sdl_config piece, that the .framework doesn't have (for version testing, it seems). but if what y'all have here gets around that, that's all good. cheers,

email to fabien will be sporadic, it seems but i have a 0.8.2 based of HEAD that's running as a Universal binary, and the arrows-and-delete all work. we might be able to push out a formal release not too far off.

Hey, Nigel - any ideas what's causing the double-free problem I see when I enable sound support? From the look of it, it's the mixer that has the problem, not Stellarium...
